Talking Nutritionelly Episode 28: Sports Nutrition Guidelines for Everybody With Kira Sutherland.

This week I am so thrilled to be joined for a second time round, by Kira Sutherland. She is an Australian Naturopath and Sports Nutritionist with more than 25 years clinical practice. Her focus in performance nutrition led her to be the first Naturopath in Australia to undertake the International Olympic Committees diploma in sports nutrition. She is also the 2019 winner of the BioCeuticals Integrative Medicine Award for Excellence in practice (Nutrition/Dietetics).

Kira divides her time between clinical practice, lecturing at the undergraduate level, and mentoring practitioners of complementary medicine in the application of holistic sports nutrition. In her free time, she competes in endurance sport and ski’s with her family as much as possible.

She’s incredibly well informed and experienced which makes her the perfect subject matter expert for today’s topic.

This episode is relevant to anybody exercising regularly and wanting to maximise their training outcomes - whether it be for the sake of endurance performance, muscle growth or fat burning. We talk abut the research surrounding and the importance of post training nutrition for recovery, including what should be in your post training meal. You will learn why athletes should take a holistic view of their training, nutrition and recovery strategies. We discuss branch chain amino acids, protein timing, protein powders and other supportive supplements.

I hope you love this episode!

For those of you interested in the discussion on plant protein and leucine, Bare Blends's plant protein (pea and rice) contains the optimal 2 - 3g leucine for every 33g serve of protein powder.
